About Us

welcome to our space

I’m Celestie Nguyen, LCSW, a Trauma & Relational Therapist

My name is Celestie Nguyen (she/her), and I am a queer, first-generation woman of colour with my heart in my hands and a love for buying new books before I can finish my current ones. I am deeply committed to practicing from an anti-capitalist and anti-oppressive lens, and supporting clients onwards in their expansive journey of mental health. My work is rooted in social justice practices and working through an intersectional lens, and is heavily informed by my belief that healing and growth comes from truly seeing ourselves and embracing the parts within that we may turn away from. I view therapy as a collaborative process, which makes you my ever-knowing teammate!

Though I work with folks presenting with a multitude of concerns, I specialize in attachment-based trauma and anxiety, as well as working with BIPOC & LGBTQ+ folks in navigating grief, shame, and identity. My philosophy of the work lies in uncovering and making meaning of patterns rooted in childhood, the power of strengthening self and vulnerability, and providing a safe space to process emotions without judgement. I love to work with folks moving through life transitions, addressing communication issues, and guiding clients to regulating their nervous systems through trauma-informed care. I value curiosity, compassion, and safety in our space together, and will actively work to decolonize mental health in all aspects of my work. I love to meet people as they are, where they are, and will always show up as my most authentic self to greet you. Thanks for being here!

ADOLESCENTS & TEENAGERS

I love to create a safe and non-judgmental space for all the very big feelings that come with growing up. It’s okay to feel more instead of feeling better! Everything you feel and what you’re going through matters here. I simply couldn’t love more just getting to know you. What an honor it is to grow up alongside you.

YOUNG ADULTS & ADULTS

Whether it’s navigating life transitions during/after college in emerging adulthood, to the messiness of life as an Adult (Capital A) and all that has to offer – I love being in the mess & fuss with you. Nothing is too big or too small for us to hold in our space. I want to hear what you want to share. Let’s tackle life together!

LGBTQ+

My head and heart work is deeply committed to working with clients who identify under the LGBTQ+ communities. My expertise comes from primarily working with queer and trans adolescents and adults, and marveling in all that they are. I see you, I hear you, and I’m with you all the way. You are who I’ll go to bat for, every time. Honoring my own queer identity, along with all the other identities I hold, is what keeps me grounded and authentic in our work together. I’m a big fan of intersectionality, so here’s to looking at you too, my fellow queer people of color!

NEURODIVERGENCE

As a fellow neurodivergent person, I know the great value of receiving affirming and supportive care. Connecting with someone in your corner who understands you can be so important to challenging the shame that grows in isolation. With you, I welcome the very sense of messiness that means that we’re alive.

RELATIONSHIPS & FAMILY

We are all created to be in connection and community with each other. Relationships are the threads to which our humanity is tied to, which means that our healing is collective too. From romantic relationships, to friendships, to the complex workings of families – all relationships deserve to take up space. Let’s explore and understand the systems that exist within ourselves & each other.

SEXUAL VIOLENCE SURVIVORS

I believe survivors and will always work to uplift them and hear their stories. As a trauma-informed therapist, I will be alongside you on your journey to empowerment and safety within yourself. Together, we’ll undertake a trauma-informed approach to understand the impact of trauma on our bodies, nervous systems, and beliefs of self. Feeling safe in your body and coming home to yourself without shame is at the core of my philosophy regarding trauma-response liberation. Our bodies can remember, and I believe your story.

BIPOC & IMMIGRANTS

I was born and raised in Australia, and eventually immigrated to the United States as an adolescent. Born to refugees of the Vietnam War and with my own lived experiences, much of my passion lies in working with first-generational individuals and BIPOC folks (especially working with Asian mental health). There is a profound complexity and grief around navigating intergenerational trauma, the disconnections that may occur between cultures, and untangling rooted shame. That part of me sees that part of you.

ANXIETY & PERFECTIONISM

For those navigating intrusive thoughts, self-judgment, and impossibly high standards — this is a space to pause. We’ll work together to shift away from perfection as the goal, expanding your capacity to sit with discomfort and embrace the full spectrum of being human. Through compassion, curiosity, and practical tools for regulation, you’ll learn to see yourself with more kindness and move through anxiety with greater ease.

Why Birdsong?

Birdsong is nature’s way of saying, you’re safe here. For thousands of years, our nervous systems have been wired to recognize the sound of birdsong as a signal that danger isn’t near. Birds don’t sing when predators are close — so when their melodies fill the air, our bodies instinctively soften, knowing it’s okay to rest.

At Birdsong Psychotherapy, we believe healing starts with safety. Just like those early morning calls, this space is designed to help your nervous system settle, your mind find quiet, and your heart remember what it feels like to be at ease. Whether you’re navigating trauma, anxiety, or the pressures of being human, our work together is a gentle return to that place of peace within.
