Our Ethos

At Birdsong Psychotherapy, I believe that the journey towards emotional well-being starts by fostering an inner sanctuary of trust, compassion, and self-care. Within the depths of our own hearts, we discover a refuge — an unwavering sense of safety that anchors us during life’s storms. Through introspection and self-reflection, we cultivate a deep connection with our authentic selves, allowing us to navigate the challenges that come our way with grace and resilience. But true safety doesn’t end with ourselves; it extends to the nurturing relationships we build with others. Humans are hardwired for connection, so community care is, in essence, self-care. Here, you’re encouraged to gently explore all types of connections, and gain an understanding of how emotional intimacy, vulnerability, and trust can thrive. I hope we can build trust and safety together, for the whole you.

Through open dialogue and empathetic support, we’ll work together to create a space that fosters growth, nurtures your understanding of self and others, and strengthens trust and resilience. Healing takes time, patience, and dedication. It’s also a forever thing! I’ll be right there with you as we explore the deeper layers of who you are.

i'm ready when you are.

Our Values

At the heart of our practice is a deep belief in the healing power of connection: within ourselves, with others, and in the spaces we choose to show up. We value authenticity over perfection, curiosity over judgment, and compassion over quick fixes. Our work is rooted in honoring your lived experiences, celebrating your strengths, and co-creating a space where you can safely grow, heal, and be fully seen. These values guide every conversation, every collaboration, and every step we take together.

Think of your inner world like a dollhouse — each room holding a different part of you.

Together, we’ll gently explore each space — memories, patterns, relationships, emotions — and begin to understand how they all connect. The modalities we use are like different keys, helping us open doors, make meaning, and create room for healing.

Trauma lives in the body as much as the mind. Our work together may incorporate somatic experiencing (body-based work), Internal Family Systems (emotional healing through parts work), or EMDR (reprocessing difficult memories), depending on your needs. These approaches help us safely explore, make meaning, and gently move through what’s been stored, so it no longer defines your present.

ACT invites us to notice, allow, and accept our internal experiences without letting them dictate our actions. Through mindfulness and values-based goals, we’ll explore how to be present with difficult emotions while still moving forward — toward a life that feels authentic and aligned.

The ways we connect (or struggle to) often trace back to our earliest relationships. This modality explores your attachment patterns — formed in childhood — and how they might still be shaping your communication, boundaries, and sense of safety in relationships today. Together, we’ll build new ways of relating — starting with your relationship to yourself.

CBT helps us untangle the loop between thoughts, feelings, and actions. It offers a clear, practical lens for understanding how our internal world influences behavior — and how we can shift that pattern to support the changes we want. This modality is especially useful for goal-setting and creating lasting behavioral shifts.

There’s no one-size-fits-all approach to healing. Eclectic therapy blends a variety of evidence-based modalities tailored to your unique needs, goals, and lived experience. Each session is collaborative, responsive, and designed to meet you exactly where you are.

Instead of focusing only on what’s “wrong,” this approach highlights what’s strong. Strengths-based therapy draws from your inherent resilience, personal values, and support systems to help you heal, grow, and reclaim agency. It’s about reminding you of what you already hold within.

So much of our pain — and our healing — happens in relationships to others. Relational therapy centers your experience in connection with others, exploring how past wounds may impact your present relationships. It’s ideal for anyone noticing recurring patterns in intimacy, conflict, or boundaries and wanting to foster more secure, fulfilling connections.

We are not our problems — and we are not the stories we’ve been told. Narrative therapy helps you step outside of painful or limiting narratives to gain clarity, insight, and authorship over your own story. It’s about reimagining your path forward in a way that’s true to you.

Your identity, culture, and lived experiences are not just considered — they’re centered. Multicultural therapy honors how systems, community, language, and heritage shape who you are. Whether navigating culture shifts, assimilation, or intergenerational trauma, this space affirms all parts of you.
